Lisa’s Story
Some journeys begin with a destination. Others begin with a decision.
For Lisa Stone, it began in her twenties when she took a chance and booked her first solo vacation to Hawaii. What started as one trip became a lifelong curiosity about the world—and eventually took her to more than one hundred countries across six continents.
Along the way, Lisa built a successful career in human resources and organizational strategy, serving in senior leadership roles with organizations including Arcadis, DC Water, Freddie Mac, AOL Time Warner, and HSBC. Her professional life gave her a front-row seat to something her travels continued to reinforce: wherever we go, people and the connections we make matter.
Travel has taken Lisa from learning to cook in Sri Lanka and drinking horse’s milk in Kazakhstan to scuba diving in the Red Sea. There have been unexpected friendships, cultural surprises, plenty of humor, and more than a few moments that required her to find courage she didn’t know she had. Those experiences ultimately became Coming Home Changed—part travel memoir, part practical guide, and an invitation to travel smarter, safer, and with greater confidence. At its heart is something Lisa has come to believe deeply: travel isn’t just about seeing the world. It’s about seeing yourself through it.
Today, Lisa is the founder of Stone Collective, LLC, where the threads of her life and work come together through people, places, and purpose.
And then there’s Lucy Love—Lisa’s four-legged road dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a spirit for adventure all her own. Whether she’s along for the ride or waiting to welcome Lisa home, Lucy Love brings plenty of joy and personality to the journey.
